OUR PHILOSOPHY
About Camp Fincayra

Camp Fincayra is a place for children and youth with exceptionalities to focus on building relationships, communication and job skills, while also providing a motivating environment for the development of social, emotional and cognitive skills.

It is our belief that camp should not just last a few weeks throughout the summer but should be available year round to provide the outdoor, nurturing environment children need and deserve.

Throughout the year Camp Fincayra runs several summer and weekend programs that will inspire growth in all attendees who take part.

Howard Dalal

From the time he was an owner in a Montessori School for Autism, to the
breakthrough with Carly Fleischmann who “found her voice” while working with Howard, he was inspired to nurture and develop these skills where others could benefit. From early on, Howard had a vision and was committed to his passion in working with children and their families, for learning, for advancing his knowledge of technology and for his expertise with augmentative communication skills.
In the past five year, he developed a program dedicated to teaching job skills too …….and was successful because of partnering with Starbucks. In particular, a young man, Sam Forbes was hired to work at a Starbucks and now is recognized worldwide as the “dancing barista”. This event has gone viral with over 6 million views world wide. This innovative approach and collaboration can ultimately provide a solution to help other young people with opportunities...on a path to changing their lives. ….which would be Howard’s greatest MISSION – changing one person’s life, one person at a time.

As Camp Fincayra has no visiting days we believe that our campers should be able to spend the most time with their families before starting their programs. As a result we require parents to provide transportation to and from camp on the specified start and end dates. Campers may be picked up or dropped off between 9 am and 12pm on these days.
